North Seattle Community College Worker Retraining Program
Worker retraining at North Seattle Community College is a package of services, opportunities, and specialized instructional programs to help you return to work as soon as possible. Information sessions are held Tuesdays at 2:30 p.m. Admission is free. For more information, visit their web site.

Wednesdays -- Bothell
Cascadia Community College Worker Retraining Program

10 surefire ways to organize your job search

Here is the link to the 10 ways to organize your job search. There were many other articles i quoted from, but this is the main one i used in the class 9/21. I hope it helped at lease some of you.
The main point is 'get organized', 'make a plan' and 'JUST DO IT'. To get really good at something you need to do it at least 2 hours a day for several months. If you 'ACTIVELY' contact people, network and search for work like it is your job you will be successful. Job Descriptions and Skills

A great resource guide from the government (can you believe that???) is the Occupational Outlook Handbook. You can find it on line at http://www.bls.gov/oco/ and you can look up the skills, training and licensing required for thousands of jobs. It would be really handy in the 'self assessment' phase of your job search where you are trying to find what the best job for you really is.

Recommended Book

The LDS Employment Center recommends the book 'What color is your parachute 2009' to help learn job search skills. It is updated every year with new trends and ideas. This is the book that one of the Employment Center's main training classes is based on.

Microsoft Office On-line Training

A little rusty with your MS Word or Excel skills? Try this FREE Microsoft training site for all the modules in MS Office. It is done in an interactive video format so you actually get to see how the programs are supposed to work and do what is taught at your own pace. Try it! You will love it! Even if you thought you knew how to use all of the MS Office programs you will learn something new by watching these training sessions (even in MS Outlook), . I sure did.
