Some companies hiring FASTER
From CNN Money here is an article about how some high tech companies are speeding up their hiring process to grab the available talent before someone else does.
This is great news for new grads or people who have the skills the high tech companies want. All you have to do is get out there with your resume tuned up and your interview skills sharpened. You can get those things done at the upcoming free Career Workshop at the Employment Resource Center in Shoreline on May 19. Just call Stan & Jackie Byrd at 206-363-0123 to reserve your spot.

What NOT to put in your Resume
Everyone talks about what to put in your resume, but this article from Salary.com talks about what to leave out. Most are pretty obvious, but you should definately pay attention to your email handle and also what you post on Facebook and Twitter. There have been several artiles in the Seattle Times lately about people getting burned by tweets or posts that they had written months or even years earlier. Prospective employers will check you out on all of the social media outlets so becareful about what your write. Also keep your linkedin profile up to date. Many hiring managers look at that site first.
Keep your resume up to date and don't put things in there that will do more harm than good.

Work From Home Jobs
For those of you who cannot work at full time jobs or need to stay home to care for kids, working from home is a great option. The problem is how can you tell the scams from the legitimate jobs? AARP had an article about three work at home companies that they suggested. If any of you out there reading this know of any companies that are legitimate and are looking to add more workers please let me know. We have several disabled people at church who are trying to make a living, but are unable to travel or work for long periods without resting which really limits their work opportunities.

The company has over 120 projects scheduled for 2012 and they need people. My wife does work for Sharebuilder as a Release Manager (They are looking to hire another one to help her out). They can mention Luisa Schlicher if the company inquires as to how they heard about the job. But she will not provide a reference unless she actually knows them.
