Controller Employment Opportunity

The Chief Seattle Council (BSA) is seeking candidates to fill the important new position of Assistant Controller. We proudly serve over 45,000 youth and adult volunteers in our Western Washington service area and have a long history of fiscal strength and stability. This new addition to our accounting team will have a key role as the council updates its fiscal management systems and maintains its status as one of the strongest non-profits in the country.
The successful candidate will have a college degree in accounting, experience working in all aspects of the accounting function, and experience supervising clerical staff. Our small accounting department offers a good variety in daily tasks. You will gain experience in all accounting systems and will be called on from time to time to perform accounting tasks from beginning to end. A hands-on work ethic is required. Audit administration and GAAP financial statement preparation are important job elements. Audit firm experience and experience with non-profit accounting principles will be a definite plus. The position requires excellent IT skills in order to apply current technologies to older systems. Strong communication skills are required. As a member of the management team you will be interacting with council’s board and employees, volunteers, vendors, donors, government agencies, banks, and the national council staff.
